Frequently Asked Questions... Can we take a tour of the studio? Sure... just send me an email and we'll schedule some time for you or your band to come in and take a look at what Mic Riots has to offer. Can you record our band playing live together in the studio? We'll find a way to record your band with whatever approach works best for your project. If your band is prepared to record live, then we'll track all the basic/foundation tracks (bass, drums, guitars, etc.) all at the same time by isolating the instruments. After that, additional tracks can be recorded one at a time - or whatever works best for your particular situation. The vocals can be recorded as a 'scratch' or final vocal on the live take. With most bands, it often works best to record a 'scratch' vocal track initially and re-record final vocals later after most of the other tracks have been recorded to give the vocalist a better 'feel' for the song. Can our band bring pre-recorded tracks to 'add on to' or mix at your studio? The Mic Riots digital 24-track recorder accepts 'raw' tracks with either an .aif or.wav extension. We can upload your tracks from your laptop PC or DVD's that you bring to the studio. We can then record additional tracks and/or mix your songs here at Mic Riots. Can we record some tracks at your studio and then take them somewhere else to mix and/or overdub additional tracks? If you'd like to record some tracks here and then record additional tracks and/or mix them somewhere else, we can save the tracks recorded at Mic Riots to DVD for you to take with you. Each individual 'raw' track will be saved as a separate .wav file (e.g. Track01.wav, Track02.wav, etc.) for each song. For bands with the ability to record at their home studios, it's often a great idea to record foundation tracks (especially bass and drums) here at Mic Riots to get a higher quality recording than you might be able to get at your home or project studio. Why record at Mic Riots? Mic Riots offers a laid back and relaxed environment to record your music. Because Mic Riots records to a digital format, the recording rates offered are extremely affordable and competitive relative to other recording options here in Charlotte, NC. Also, you'll be recorded by someone that's played in/recorded with many indie bands from all over the US (including: elvin - chicago, il; campo bravo - san francisco, ca; sunshone still - columbia, sc; the old invention - charlotte, nc; tierra del fuego - phoenix, az; carden - austin, tx) and has been recording music since '95.
